A deciduous, upright shrub with bright green foliage that provides a dense screen or hedge throughout the growing season. In spring, it produces small, inconspicuous greenish flowers, and female plants may develop small, red berries that attract birds. The foliage turns yellow in fall, adding seasonal interest. Its compact, upright growth habit makes it excellent for formal hedges, privacy screens, or foundation plantings.
This shrub grows best in full sun to partial shade and tolerates a wide range of soil conditions, including clay and dry soils. It is hardy, low maintenance, and adaptable to urban environments.
