A native deciduous shrub with medium green foliage that provides lush seasonal interest. In early summer, it produces large clusters of fragrant, creamy-white flowers that attract pollinators. By late summer, it develops dark purple berries that are edible for humans and wildlife and are highly attractive to birds. The foliage may take on subtle yellow tones in fall before dropping. Its upright, multi-stemmed growth habit makes it excellent for naturalized areas, hedgerows, or wildlife gardens.

This shrub grows best in full sun to partial shade and tolerates a wide range of soil conditions, including moist or boggy areas. It is hardy, low maintenance, and supports native wildlife.
