A native deciduous shrub valued for its multi-season interest and versatility in the landscape. In late spring to early summer, it produces flat-topped clusters of creamy white flowers that attract pollinators, followed by small blue-black berries in late summer that are favored by birds. Its green foliage turns attractive shades of yellow in the fall, providing seasonal colour. The naturally upright, rounded habit makes it suitable for hedges, mass plantings, or specimen use in gardens and naturalized areas.
Valued for its ornamental flowers, wildlife-friendly fruit, and low-maintenance growth, it grows best in full sun to part shade and prefers moist, well-drained soil. Once established, it is tolerant of wind, urban conditions, and moderately dry soils. Light pruning helps maintain shape and encourages healthy flowering and fruiting.
