A large, hardy evergreen conifer with stiff, dark green needles and a strong pyramidal growth habit when young, becoming more rounded with age. It is commonly used as a windbreak, screen tree, or large landscape specimen.
This pine grows best in full sun and adapts well to a variety of well-drained soils, including poorer or drier sites. It is very cold hardy and tolerant of exposed conditions once established.
