A low-growing, spreading deciduous shrub with small, glossy green leaves arranged in a distinctive, lattice-like pattern. In late spring to early summer, it produces clusters of small, white flowers that attract pollinators. By late summer into fall, the shrub is adorned with bright coral-red berries that persist into winter, providing food for birds. In autumn, the foliage may turn shades of red or bronze, adding seasonal colour.
This shrub grows best in full sun to partial shade and prefers well-drained soil. It is hardy, low maintenance, and tolerant of a range of garden conditions, including slopes and rock gardens.
