A small ornamental tree known for its striking purple to burgundy heart-shaped foliage. In early spring, it produces bright pink to purplish-pink flowers that appear directly on the branches before the leaves emerge. The foliage remains rich purple-red through summer and may turn yellowish in fall.
This tree has a rounded, slightly open growth habit and is commonly used as a specimen tree in residential landscapes or garden beds where colour contrast is desired. It prefers full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil.
