A deciduous ornamental tree known for its graceful, pyramidal to rounded habit and heart-shaped foliage. In spring, new leaves emerge reddish-purple, maturing to bright green in summer, and in fall, they turn brilliant shades of yellow, orange, and apricot with a sweet, candy-like fragrance. Its layered branching and delicate foliage make it ideal as a specimen tree or focal point in gardens and parks.
Valued for striking seasonal color, unique fragrance, and architectural form, it grows best in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist, well-drained soil. Minimal pruning is needed, mainly to remove dead or crossing branches.
