A deciduous ornamental tree known for its broad, rounded habit and striking deep purple foliage that provides dramatic color contrast in the landscape. In spring and summer, the rich foliage creates a dense, textured canopy, turning slightly bronze in fall before dropping. Its naturally stately form makes it ideal as a specimen tree, for large gardens, or in parks.
Valued for bold foliage, multi-season interest, and low-maintenance growth, it grows best in full sun to part shade and prefers well-drained, fertile soil. Minimal pruning is needed, mainly to remove dead or crossing branches.
