A native, deciduous large shrub valued for its multi-season interest. In early spring, it produces clusters of fragrant white flowers, followed by small, sweet, edible purple-blue berries in early summer that attract birds and can be used in jams or desserts. Its foliage turns brilliant shades of red, orange, and yellow in the fall, adding striking autumn colour. Its naturally upright, rounded growth habit makes it suitable for specimen plantings, hedgerows, or naturalized gardens.

This serviceberry is valued for its ornamental flowers, edible fruit, vibrant fall foliage, and adaptability to a range of garden conditions. It grows best in full sun to part shade and prefers moist, well-drained soil. Once established, Canadian Serviceberry is moderately tolerant of wind and urban conditions. Minimal maintenance is required, with occasional pruning to maintain shape and remove dead or crossing branches.
