A deciduous shrub prized for its bright yellow stems that provide striking winter interest. Its medium green foliage emerges in spring and turns reddish-purple in fall. In late spring to early summer, it produces small white flower clusters that attract pollinators, followed by white berries that feed birds. Its upright, rounded growth habit makes it a bold addition to mixed borders, naturalized landscapes, or wetland edges.

This shrub grows best in full sun to partial shade and tolerates a range of soil conditions, including moist or boggy areas. It is hardy, low maintenance, and excellent for erosion control.
